Behaviour and Training
Dog Training and Behaviour in Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Surrounding Areas
Find your calm, confident groove with your dog.
Does your dog’s barking make you cringe every time the doorbell rings?
Or maybe vet visits feel more like a high-stakes wrestling match than a check-up.
And then there’s the everyday stress; nervousness around new people, overreacting to other dogs, or just that constant, low-level anxiety that affects you both.
You love your dog. Of course you do. But right now? It’s a lot.
Helping anxious dogs feel safer and more confident - one step at a time.
If you’ve tried traditional training - sit, down, stay - and it just didn’t help… you’re in the right place.
No ‘obedience’ training here! Your dog’s behaviour is more than training cues - it’s how they feel, how they move, and how they experience the world.
That’s why we start at the root: helping your dog feel safe, comfortable, and engaged with you.
When they feel good, the learning naturally follows.

Here’s the thing: you don’t have to figure it out alone.
I help anxious, fearful, and sensitive dogs feel safer, more confident, and better understood.
Using kind, science-backed training and behaviour support, we’ll untangle the stress and build a plan that actually works - for you and your dog. One that supports your dog’s emotional, physical, and behavioural well-being.
Together, we’ll make your dog’s day better (and yours, too).
A whole-dog approach
Every dog is different (and so are their humans). That’s why we will go beyond ‘obedience’ and ‘training’. We’ll be taking a deep dive into what makes your dog your dog.
We'll uncover what they need to truly thrive.
Together, we’ll explore:
🐾 Your daily routine: How does it support (or stress) your dog?
🐾 Their physical health & movement: Health affects behaviour, and pain can fuel anxiety.
🐾 Behavioural patterns: What lights them up? What challenges them?
🐾 Sleep, stress & exercise: How do they impact behaviour? Are they getting enough rest?
🐾 Interactions with the world: What’s helping? What’s overwhelming?
We don’t slap a quick fix on the surface stuff.
We get to the root of the issue, so we can create real solutions that actually stick.

Supportive training for lasting change
Once we’ve got the full picture, we’ll create a plan that meets your dog where they’re at.
We’ll focus on:
✔️ Understanding your dog better: Learn what makes them tick and how to meet them where they’re at.
✔️ Helping your dog feel safe: Using predictability, choice, and guidance.
✔️ Supporting movement & body comfort: Because discomfort can fuel behavioural struggles.
✔️ Spot health red flags early: Dealing with stiffness or discomfort, before they become bigger issues.
✔️ Building trust & confidence: So they can handle new situations with less fear.
✔️ Building engagement: So they naturally want to check in with you.
✔️ Tackling the tough stuff: Like barking, reactivity, jumping and beyond.
✔️ Making vet visits and grooming less stressful: With cooperative care techniques that make handling, grooming, and vet trips easier.
✔️ Navigating fears: Using fun, practical ways to handle scary situations.
✔️ Deepening your bond: Strengthening your connection in ways that make life easier and more rewarding.
This isn’t about quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. It's about understanding why they’re struggling and giving them the tools to cope.
It’s about building real, lasting change - for both of you.
